For most people, buying a home is the most important investment they will make. Yet the process of purchasing a home is complicated and overwhelming. In addition, if a family is financially not prepared, there is a risk they will be denied for a mortgage loan, which will delay any purchase they seek to make.

Homebuyer Education

Participants who have never owned a home and attend all 8 hours will receive a First-time Homebuyer Certificate. Some programs, such as the HomeFirst program from New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, require this Certificate.  Successful applicants to HomeFirst may receive up to $40,000 in down payment assistance.

HPD HomeFirst down payment assistance program will provide a grant up to $40,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance funds to be used towards the purchase of a 1-to-4-family home, cooperative, or condominium in one of the five boroughs of New York City!
