The Board of Directors of Brooklyn Cooperative FCU is comprised of seven individuals. There is currently one vacancy. Each director is a credit union member who brings some special knowledge and expertise that contribute to policy-making, oversight, and community outreach responsibilities.

Margot Brandenburg, Board President
Ms. Brandenburg is Associate Director at the Rockefeller Foundation, where she works on initiatives that pertain to economic development and poverty reduction, including social investing and economic security of low-income US workers.  Prior to joining the foundation, Margot worked in the field of microfinance, mostly in Africa. She has held positions at the African Development Bank and the Microfinance Information eXchange and has worked as a consultant to Shorebank.  Margot received her BA from Stanford University and her MPA from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton.  She began her work with Brooklyn Cooperative FCU as a volunteer in Fall 2006.

Andrew Friedman
Mr. Friedman is an attorney and Executive Director of Make the Road NY, a neighborhood organization fostering economic justice through participatory democracy and organizing activities. He is a graduate of Columbia College and the New York University School of Law.

Roberto Marrero
Mr. Marrero is a Senior Staff Attorney at Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A.  He has been employed by Brooklyn Legal since 1989, with two 2 year leaves of absence in that time: one to work as a legislative aide for a Brooklyn New York State Assemblyman and the second to work as a court attorney for a New York State Supreme Court Justice.  Roberto serves as House Counsel for a number of HDFC cooperatives in Brooklyn.  He also serves as Chair of the board of directors of Nuestros Ninos Daycare Center.  Roberto received his BSc from the City University of New York.  He is also a graduate of City University of New York’s Law School. 

Samira Rajan
Ms. Rajan was named CEO of Brooklyn Cooperative in October 2008 after seven years of distinguished service, including as its Chief Operating Officer and Director of Lending.  She also worked as an Associate Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and as an Economist with the Jerome Levy Economics Institute.  Ms. Rajan holds a BA from Bryn Mawr College and an MPP from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. 

Mark Winston Griffith
Mr. Griffith is the Executive Director of the Drum Major Institute for Public Policy and a community economic justice activist and journalist.  Previously he served for twelve years as the founding Executive Director of the Central Brooklyn Partnership and was the founding Board Chair of the Central Brooklyn Federal Credit Union.  He also served as the Co-Director of the Neighborhood Economic Development Advocacy Project.

Ronique Thompson
Mr. Thompson works with the City of New York’s Human Resources Administration as a Job Opportunity Specialist. Past work experience includes serving as an Assistant Manager at the U.S. Open and as a Technical Analyst at Donovan Data systems. He is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Tracey Capers
Ms. Capers is Senior Vice President for Programs at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation. Ms. Capers has held leadership posts in diverse non-profits and in government, such as Vice President of Development at the Local Initiatives Support Corporation and Chief of Staff for the NYC Department of Small Business Services. A resident of Brooklyn, Ms. Capers serves on the boards of the Noel Pointer Foundation and the Brooklyn Center for Performing Arts.
